Also known as an inn, hotel, hostelry, watering hole, lodge, public house, roadhouse, tavern and saloon. Some say it's the first sign of an organised society, a place where opinions will be spoken and, this is one for Parliament, listened to!  There are pubs in nearly every country in the world. More earth shattering decisions have been debated in this institution than in any other. Barrhead boasts some of the best in the world... which means we have the greatest decision makers in the world

ARTHURLIE INNS
Located on the roundabout at Main Street/Cross Arthurlie Street this friendly and family run local comprises a bar at street level and a lounge in the basement. There is regular live music in both parts but more so in the lounge at weekends when a young crowd are attracted. The bar is more of a traditional pub with a host of loyal regulars.

THE KELBURNE
This relatively small but busy pub is situated on Cross Arthurlie Street and has the distinction of having no music so conversation tends to be both loud and plentiful. Again this privately run establishment attracts more than its fair share of locals.

Kelburn Bar: 16 Cross Arthurlie Street, Barrhead

Tel: 0141-580 1048

BUDS
Located at the central part of Cross Arthurlie Street this is a spacious, no frills pub, at least in terms of its decor. On the positive side, it offers both pool and darts for the sports minded and every second weekend offers an extremely popular karaoke. Buds is popular during the day with pensioners and shoppers since the size of the bar provides a good chance of a seat and the opportunity to the rest the legs.

RUMOURS BAR
Rumours is located a hundred yards down Cross Arthurlie Street from Buds and is well known in Barrhead for its Glasgow Rangers F.C. affiliations. Buses are organised regularly for matches and on Old Firm match days when tickets are at a premium the bar tends to be choc-a-bloc. That said, it is the type of pub where all are welcome and in terms of decor it is one of the more modern pubs in the town and the dim lighting gives it an attraction of its own.

Rumours Bar: 69-71 Cross Arthurlie Street, B..

Tel: 0141-580 6005

BARRHEAD HOTEL
Known locally simply as "The Hotel" and located just off Cross Arthurlie Street on Robertson Street, this contains a bar and lounge accessible separately from both streets respectively. This is the Celtic supporters' antidote to Rumours and is known locally as a "Celtic shop", although it does have the justified reputation of being far more raucous an establishment than its rival. Perhaps for that reason, the Hotel seems to draw all its custom from its hardcore of close-knit regulars.

BRIG INN
So named due to its proximity to the railway bridge at Barrhead station, this is a popular and traditional pub comprising a bar and a very small but cosy lounge warmed by an open fire during the winter. It provides a variety of real ales and is popular with local members of CAMRA.

Brig Inn: 143 Cross Arthurlie Street, B..
Tel: 0141-881 1677

CROSS STOBS INN
This is the last pub as you leave Barrhead to head to Paisley but by no means least. It comprises a traditional bar, a large, plush lounge with a good food menu and in the summer a beer garden is available as well as tables on the pavement outside. It really is the place to go locally for an al fresco drink in good weather.

If you have a review email it to us click here. We'll submit it to our Pub Master and the decision to publish is with him. We'll be building this review and guide up depending on the information and requests we receive. If they have a web site we'll link to that and if they don't we'll offer one free of charge! To see who gets offered a web site first vote here: (we'll add the voter very shortly)

Remember that we like pubs, so objectivity is important! If you are going to do a review try to do it at the beginning of the night "What a great place, s##t I'm wasted, beers good" is not a review though we do understand. Lastly please do not send beer stained emails - thankyou
